Help & Support
Answers to common questions about Kitchenry — and how to reach us when you need a hand.
Frequently asked questions
Is Kitchenry free to use?
Yes. Kitchenry is free to start. The Free plan includes up to 50 saved recipes, 10 standard website imports per month, manual recipe tools, search, favorites, Cook Mode, timers, text export, and shopping-list sharing.
Which devices does Kitchenry work on?
Kitchenry is available in your web browser today. Native iPhone and Android apps are on the way — start on the web and your recipes will sync across every device you sign in on.
How do I add a recipe?
Snap a photo of a printed or handwritten recipe, paste a link from any website, or type it in. Kitchenry pulls out the ingredients and steps automatically.
Do my recipes sync across devices?
Yes. Sign in on any device and your recipes and shopping lists are right where you left them.
Where can I import recipes from?
Snap a photo or screenshot, paste a link from any recipe website, upload a file, or paste in plain text. Kitchenry pulls out the ingredients and steps for you.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Creating a free account takes a few seconds and keeps your recipes synced across all your devices. The Free plan costs nothing.
Is my data private?
Your recipes are private to your account and synced securely across your own devices.
Can I share recipes with my family?
You can send a recipe to another Kitchenry user by email. They need a Kitchenry account to receive it. Cookbook sharing and public share links are not part of this launch, and there is no public recipe feed.
What do the paid plans include?
Basic is $4.99/month on the web and includes unlimited saved recipes and standard website imports, 100 AI-assisted recipe imports per month including up to 20 audio/video imports, manual pantry and meal planning, unlimited cookbooks and shopping lists, recipe sharing, and PDF/DOCX export. Pro is $9.99/month on the web and includes 250 AI-assisted imports including up to 50 audio/video imports, 200 successful Cheffry replies, and 50 other AI actions including up to 10 full AI meal plans per month. Paid allowances renew with each monthly subscription period. Both plans renew monthly until you cancel. There is no yearly checkout on the web today.
Legal & recipe sharing
Who owns the recipes I create in Kitchenry?
You do. Any recipes you write, create, or compose in Kitchenry are your intellectual property. By using the app you grant us a limited license to store, display, and transmit your content solely to provide the service — for example syncing across your devices or sharing with people you choose. We never claim ownership of your content.
Are recipes copyrightable?
It is nuanced. A bare list of ingredients is generally not copyrightable, but the creative expression around a recipe can be protected: original instruction text, personal stories, unique phrasing, and food photography. The more creative and expressive the writing, the stronger the protection.
I scanned a recipe from a cookbook. Can I keep it in my library?
Yes. Digitizing a recipe for your personal use is generally considered fair use. Kitchenry is designed as a personal recipe manager — scanned recipes live in your private library for your own use, much like photocopying a page from a cookbook for your kitchen.
Can I share a scanned cookbook recipe with someone else?
Exercise caution here. Sharing a recipe scanned from a published cookbook transmits someone else’s creative expression. We recommend rewriting the instructions in your own words, crediting the original source (for example “Adapted from…”), and sharing only your own original or substantially modified recipes.
What about recipes from websites?
The same principles apply. The ingredient list itself is not copyrightable, but the author’s original writing in instructions and descriptions can be. Many food bloggers rely on their original content for their livelihood — we encourage saving a link to the source and writing your own notes rather than reproducing someone else’s full text.
What happens when I share a recipe with another user?
Kitchenry is private by default — there is no public recipe feed. You can send a recipe to another Kitchenry user by email; they get a copy in their inbox. Cookbooks cannot be shared in this launch, and there are no public share links. Export remains available for your own use.
My copyrighted work is being shared without permission. What can I do?
Email support@kitchenry.app with a description of your copyrighted work, where it appears in Kitchenry, and your contact details. We review every report and remove or disable access to infringing content, and accounts that repeatedly infringe may be restricted or terminated.
